CS @ UT Dallas · a.k.a. Bolt
I build fast, intelligent software for the web.
I'm Arvindh Kumar Kalainathan, a full-stack developer who enjoys turning messy problems into clean products — from ML pipelines that predict pipeline failures to tools used by hundreds of students every semester.

About
I'm a Computer Science student at The University of Texas at Dallas, originally from India. I'm drawn to how technology works under the hood — and to solving problems efficiently. (Being a little lazy turns out to be great motivation for writing good automation.)
I started with Java in high school, picked up Python and SQL, and taught myself web development after my first hackathon showed me what I didn't yet know. Since then I've built full-stack apps, a computer-vision mobile app, a Discord bot for an 800-member community, and AI/ML projects that have earned three hackathon awards — including first place at HackUTD.
Right now I'm most interested in applied machine learning and building products where a model is only one part of a well-engineered system — and, since 2026, in making games with Unity.

New in 2026In 2026 I started building games with Unity. On desktop, press start to play right here in your browser — no download needed.
Journey
-
2026
Player one has entered the game
Got into game development with Unity and C#, and released my first game, The King's Path — playable in the browser on itch.io.
-
2025
Back on the podium — twice
Took 3rd place in the AWS challenge at TAMUhack with Vision Learning, an AI interview coach, and 3rd place overall at the Axxess Hackathon with AIgnosis, a multi-model healthcare diagnostics app.
-
2024
First hackathon win
Built the Flask API and data pipeline for PipeBrains, which took 1st place in EOG Resources' challenge at HackUTD XI — the largest 24-hour hackathon in the US. Also built SafeDrive with ACM Projects and Zeus for my CS community.
-
2023
Self-taught web development
Learned HTML, CSS and JavaScript over the summer and shipped WebTrack, Recime and Lé Word. Built MedCare at HackUTD X, launched this site's first version, and joined ACM at UTD.
-
2022
Databases, then UT Dallas
Learned SQL and wired it up as a backend for Python apps. Started Computer Science at UT Dallas, built games in Unity/C# with the Student Game Developer Association, and attended my first HackUTD.
-
2021
Python & academics
Picked up Python quickly on top of Java. Earned perfect scores on the national board exams in Computer Science and Chemistry, and ranked 1st in Physics in my school.
-
2019
Hello, world
Wrote my first programs in Java in high school — loops, sorting algorithms and the fundamentals that started everything.
